Picking goods for distribution from a central warehouse

The big supermarket chains use TRANSLYFT lifting tables when picking goods from the high pallets in their distribution centres.

The lifting tables give you several advantages:

  • A much higher efficiency due to rational handling procedures

  • The same picking height, whether the pallet is full or nearly empty

  • Far better working conditions and a more satisfied work force

  • Less absenteeism due to sore backs and less wear on people in general

Today many pallets are packed to a height above 2000 mm in order to make the most of the space in the lorries and the containers.

In the distribution centre shown the pallet is placed at the lifting table and lowered until the top layer is about 900 mm above floor level. The lifting table has a travel of 1600 mm and is fitted with an automatic photocell control. When the operator has removed a layer from the pallet, the table will lift automatically to the set height of 900 mm. This procedure repeats itself until the pallet is empty.

The empty pallet is automatically lifted to floor level and taken away. A full pallet is placed on the table and lowered into the pit - and the procedure repeats itself.
